Mt 14:13-36

Yesterday brother P said something to me that is quite disturbing. He told me he dreamed about me one night last week. To be cautious I asked what was I doing in his dream. He said the first half was good and the second half was not so good. In the first half he dreamed I became the conductor of the church choir. 'However,' he said, 'when the time came for us to sing at the sermon everyone was looking for you everywhere!" And I was nowhere to be found! Then he saw me sitting there smoking a cigarette. "At that moment I woke up," he said laughingly. I laughed out loud as it sounded so ridiculous to me--I don't even smoke and I don't think I'll ever be the conductor of the choir (I would be a member of it once I have more free time). But it's still troubling that such an image formed in his dream. P is a dear brother and I love him--a fact that makes the case even worse for me. I do thank him for sharing it with me and take it as a warning sign from God.

We listened to Elder Chen's CD in the car on our way to church. It was really touching. Softly he sang in Taiwanese. Gentely he tells that Jehova is our help. Wife wants to make a copy for his father and aunt.
  • v13: Jesus withdrew privately to a solitary place at the news of John's beheading. Solitary is a means Jesus used when he wanted to be alone with God.
  • v13: the miracle of 'five loaves of bread and two fish' was performed after Jesus heard the news about John's beheading.
  • v20: the twelve baskets of leftovers -> overflow of God's blessings.
  • v22: Jesus made the disciples leave ahead of him to the other side of the lake.
  • v23: Jesus went to pray alone up on a mountain.
  • v24: after midnight Jesus walked on the lake to catch up with the disciples.
  • v27: 3 things Jesus told them when they first saw him:
    • Take courage;
    • It is I;
    • Don't be afraid.
  • v29: Peter walked on the water.
  • v30: 'Lord, save me!'
  • v33: worship -> Truly you are the Son of God.
