Yesterday Wife and I attended the funeral of Elder James Chen. It was quite a touching memorial service, especially the speaches from both of his daughters. What impressed me was that he loved life (producing his own cartoons at home for the children, opening two restaurants in Illinois, enjoyed fishing, etc.), and he also love the life of others (missionary trips to eastern Europe--not only trips, he stayed there for years opening churches, visiting of people who needs marriage consultation, etc. etc.). His life passed on but it dad helped and become an inspiration for many others. Isn't this the true worth of our frail life?
- v27: when did the weeds come from? An enemy did this! Eventually the enemy came from the fallen angle, whom was good in the beginning.
- v37-43: explanation of the parable of the weeds:
- the one sowed the good seed -> Son of Man;
- the field -> the world;
- good seed -> sons of the kingdom;
- weeds -> sons of the evil one;
- enemy -> the devil;
- harvest -> the end of the age;
- harvesters -> angels;
- v43: the concultion is, again, let him hear he who has ears.
- v44-46: parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl.
