Acts 4

  • Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved
    • to this day, there are others who claim they are Messiah, but the Bible clearly says there are no other salvation, no other name but Jesus Christ
  • Peter's testimony
    • first others asked 'by what power or what name did you do this?'
    • he was filled with the Holy Spirit
    • they were astonished to see his courage, and that he was unschooled
  • who to obey? Men or God, when the two are in conflict
    • a higher authority is God, when the will of God (that has revealed in our heart) collides with that of men (be it our family or superior), then sorry--men shall loose;
  • Peter and John were unafraid of governing authorities (they were filled with Holy Spirit and harbored no fear in them except the fear of God)
  • Facing threats, they prayed for boldness (v29.30)
  • shared possessions
    • preparation for persecutions
  • Barnabas
    • a Levite
    • he also sold a field and brought the money to the disciples
