Acts 19:13-41

• Some Jews would invoke the name of Jesus but on their own
• they tried to drive out evil spirits
  
• evil spirit answered
• Jesus I know

• but who are you?
• the evil possessed man jumped on them and overpowered them
• Many people in Ephesus believed and the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power
• Paul planned to return to Jerusalem, and wanted to visit Rome
• he sent Timothy and Erastus to Macedonia
  
• A silversmith stirred a riot against Paul
• they made silver shrines of Artemis (i.e. Diana Goddess)
  
• because Paul said 'man-made gods are no gods at all'
• the people were in an uproar and assembled in the theater
• Paul wanted to go but was held back by the disciples
• most people at the theater didn't know why there were there
• the city clerk persuaded the crowd to stop the assembly
