Acts 12:1-23

• King Herod arrested some and persecuted them
• James, brother of John, died
• he was killed with a sword
• first Disciple (11+1) killed
• not the James who wrote the Book of James (that was brother of Jesus)
  
• Peter was arrested, too
  
• probably facing the same fate as James
• Peter saved by an angle
• quick, get up!
• even with help of an angle, the window of opportunity might be narrow
• hurry, don't waste any time
• seize the moment
• and the opportunity
• Peter went to the house of Mary, mother of Mark
  
• Mark was the author of the Book of Mark
• where many gathered and were praying for him
• he told them to spread the news, then he left
• for safety reasons, probably
• The guards who guarded Peter was executed
• Herod's Death
• because he did not give praise to God
• he was eaten by warms and died
