Jn 4:4-42

  • Jesus stopped at Jacob's well;
  • Samaritan Woman asked
    • why -
      • why did you ask from me, a Samaritan?
    • how -
      • how can you get living water?
    • who -
      • are you greater than our father Jacob?
  • whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life
  • the woman wanted the living water from Jesus
    • did she get it?
      • Jesus admitted to her he is the Messiah
      • she almost believed (v29)
      • she led others to come to Jesus--they believed (v41-42);
      • did she ever truly believe?
        • the scripture wasn't explicit about it;
        • it's probably arguable, but from her reactions she most likely did (I just hope that could last till the end of her life, even that it is not difficult to imagine);
          • those who she helped would help her to be sure--
            • yes, I met the Messiah
            • he spoke to me
            • he knew everything about my past
            • many people who came to him after hearing my story believed;
  • God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth;
