• Friday; on the same day Jesus was crucified and buried; 3 days later (Sunday) he rose to life again;

• Jesus mainly remained silent (v4b,5) except for Pilate's question, 'Are you the king of the Jews?'
• to which Jesus replied, 'Yes, it is as you say.'
• the crowd demand to release Barabbas and crucify Jesus
• The soldiers
• put purple robe on him
• set a crown of thorns on him
• mocked him, 'Hail, king of Jews!'
  
• struck him on the head (again and again) with a staff
  
• spit on him
• on their knees and paid homage to him

• was forced to carry the cross for Jesus
• Jesus crucified around 9am (v25) and died around 3 pm (v33)
  
• After Jesus died
• the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom
• Jesus buried in the same night by Joseph (a prominent member of the Council); Pilate was surprised Jesus died so soon (v44)
