Lk 8:40-9:6

  • Jesus heals Jairus' daughter
    • at 12 and almost dead
    • reported dead when Jesus was on the way there
    • 'Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.' Jesus comforted the father when the news arrived;
    • 'My child, get up!'
    • Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up;
  • Jesus heals the sick woman
    • 12 years of bleeding
    • touched the edge of Jesus' cloak and the bleeding stopped immediately;
    • Jesus felt the power went out of him;
    • He wants the woman to identify herself, so he asked, 'who touched me?'
    • She admitted in fear and gave her testimony on what just happened to her;
    • Jesus said, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.'
  • Jesus can even raise the dead back to life, and he can heal the 'incurable' diseases; bring our case to Jesus; don't be afraid and just believe! He can!
  • Jesus sends out the Twelve
    • take nothing on the journey
    • stay at the same house until you leave town; why? why not stay at different ones? or even one per night? the only reasons I can think of are:
      • this way it'd save time; and the time saved can be used for more important things;
      • good testimony for the host family;
      • easier for the local people to find them if they know where they stay;
      • won't get confused or lost at the end of the day;
    • those who don't welcome you, dust off your feet when you leave town, as a testimony against them;
      • Jesus wants people to know who doesn't welcome his disciple;
