- The Transfiguration
- Jesus took 3 disciples:
- Peter
- James
- John
- transfigure:
- clothes dazzling white
- whiter than anyone in the world can bleach them
- appeared with Elijah and Moses
- It's good for us to be here, said Peter
- he did not know what to say (he was too frightened), so he said he'd build 3 shelters for Jesus, Elijah, and Moses; why say anything at all when one doesn't know what to say?! Sometimes silence can carry a message, too.
- when they looked around, they saw no one except Jesus (v8); it's a common prayer for the worship;
- 'If you can?' (v22, v23) - certainly that's the wrong attitude--we shall leave not the slightest doubt in our mind of what Jesus can do. 'Everything is possible for him who believes' (v23b) The only thing Jesus not capable of doing is to sin. He is not limited by any laws in the physical world--the world was created through him! (Jn 1:3)
- Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" I really like his reaction--suddenly he realized there's doubt harboring in his mind, and without any hesitation he's ready to get rid of it; he took the leap of faith instantly;
- v29: some spirit (e.g. the deaf and mute spirit-v25) can come out only by prayer (and fasting)
