Mk 1:29-2:12

  • v30: Peter (a.k.a Simon) was married; I wonder why there's no mentioning of his wife anywhere;
  • v30-34: Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law and many others; drove out many demons;
  • v35: Jesus got up before daybreak to pray in a solitary place;
  • v38: Jesus wanted to go elsewhere when everyone in the villages was looking for him; he came to preach, not just to heal the sicks;
  • v45: again Jesus switch places when his name is known for healing a leper;
  • 2:1-12: Jesus healed a Paralytic
    • in Capernaum; Jesus preached in a room;
    • a paralytic was carried by 4 men;
    • they had to find a creative way to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd;
    • so they dig a hole in the roof and lower the men in a mat to Jesus;
    • Jesus saw their faith (v5);
    • Which is easier?
      • to heal, or
      • to forgive sins
    • Jesus did both (first he forgave the sins of the men, then healed his paralysis);
    • the crowd was amazed and praised God!
